@fuzzy I want to switch from Linux to NetBSD to avoid the corporatism and LLMs. I'll still keep Linux around for gaming though.

@midtsveen It is a pity that this is so dichotomous; that you can't just mix-and-match kernels with operating systems.
I'm hugely into #guix myself, and would love it if a BSD kernel was simply an option in the system declaration file.

Look at nix-darwin and its deviation from nix and the work needed to build it and support other nix modules for an idea of what it takes.
Its existence proves it is doable, but it’s significant work and definitely not a kernel drop-in
