buried in the boxes of Nibble, MacUser, MacAddict and MacUser mags were these gems.
i'm beyond excited to finally read a Sierra InterAction mag after decades of wishing i had been able to subscribe as a kid 🙏

@vga256 That's really cool. I never had a chance to read them either.
@vga256 I wonder how many staff they had dedicated to making it!?
@ThreeOhFour good question. a pretty average sized team i'd say - very comparable to other small computing mags in 94. the most surprising thing to me was that the vast majority of articles are written by developers.
@vga256 That reminds me of Games Workshop getting their staff members to do articles for the White Dwarf magazine. I guess it’s no different to me writing blog posts (except presumably their articles were edited, and my blog posts are just pooped out at the end of the day when I’m exhausted and can’t think haha)
@ThreeOhFour i'm genuinely surprised that InterAction is kind of folksy, and retains a lot of the sierra culture humour. it feels more like an internal company newsletter sometimes, and a secret employee bathroom zine at other times. one of scott murphy's oneliners in the issue i read this morning said 'they got me to do space quest vi because they had some photos on me. i swear i didn't know it was illegal to do that with a llama'
@vga256 That’s great. I do feel like this was the tone for some (not all, but some) games media at that time, too. But it’s fascinating to revisit. I was re-reading the Planescape: Torment design document last week and there is no way that would be written today, haha.
@ThreeOhFour funny timing. i was just reading that design doc this morning, and it's absolutely cringe inducing
@vga256 Yeah, I wonder how Avellone feels about it now. :)
@ThreeOhFour avellone in romero emulation mode is not a great look, except that he does it so well it's more of a mastery than planescape's actual writing
@vga256 I will say this - not in support of that doc, but in acceptance of it: if that’s what it took to get Torment made, so be it. Worth it.
@ThreeOhFour haha he knew his audience.
