In a top-down 2D game where the player-character is normally centred in the viewport but can move to the edges at the boundaries of the level: should spatial audio be based on the camera or the player-character?Are the speakers playing what the player-character's ears can hear; or what we can see on screen?

@wjt My instinct is that audio should always match the viewport, i.e. be based on the camera

@clinkingdog @wjt Agreed, and it is also easy to determine which it is as the player, by having the player character make sounds very early into the game experience. footsteps, action sounds, etc.
