I’ve just switched phone because my old one gave in, and I’ve previously used Authy as an authenticator app but it doesn’t work on the new one for some reason. Any suggestions for replacement? I have very few requirements, I just want to log into things.
@SonnyBonds I recently switched to 2FAS Auth (Android phone) and it works well for me. https://2fas.com/auth/
@dougbinks Thanks! I’ll check it out. (I just switched to iPhone from Android because wife and kids is on iPhone so I gave in. 😄)
Aug 29, 2026, 6:51 PM@SonnyBonds @dougbinks Another vote for 2FAS here!
Aug 29, 2026, 6:47 PM@SonnyBonds I use 1Password for this stuff now.
@photex Oh, I have that for some other stuff so if it works as authenticator it might be worth looking at
Aug 29, 2026, 7:09 PM@SonnyBonds yeah I was happy to discover the feature.
Aug 29, 2026, 7:45 PM@photex @SonnyBonds Same. It slightly breaks the independent second factor rule but not having it tied to a single device is a lot more convenient
Aug 30, 2026, 9:14 AM@sinbad @SonnyBonds it’ll work on any device that you install 1Password to. So there’s that nice ability to be able to freely migrate. Which is especially nice when a phone or laptop eats it or something.
Aug 30, 2026, 11:47 AM@photex @SonnyBonds yep that’s what I meant but a “not” turned into an “it” on my phone which garbled the meaning 🙄
Sep 1, 2026, 6:14 AM@SonnyBonds @sinbad oh no.. what have I missed? 🫣
Sep 1, 2026, 6:22 AM@SonnyBonds @sinbad oh man. I’ve emailed support with my objections.
Sep 1, 2026, 8:14 AM@photex @SonnyBonds what happened?
Sep 1, 2026, 8:23 AM@sinbad @SonnyBonds 1Password donated a large sum of money to Omarchy. Which is a curated set of dotfiles over arch linux formed by DHH to build a community of bigots that coincidentally also use Linux.
Sep 1, 2026, 9:26 AM@photex @SonnyBonds oh ffs
@SonnyBonds been on Aegis for a while. It does a pretty good job. FOSS I think? Not sure
