i've figured it out

CAPTCHAs are getting more difficult these days 🫪

ZLS not working with it right now though according to the release notes, so I'll be holding off for a bit.

Ooooh Zig 0.17 released. Maybe I can get rid of my patched Frankenstein build now.

I’ve just switched phone because my old one gave in, and I’ve previously used Authy as an authenticator app but it doesn’t work on the new one for some reason. Any suggestions for replacement? I have very few requirements, I just want to log into things.

OH @piko: "Calvin Klein underwear"

Accidentally pressed F1 in Explorer and it seems its "help" is opening bing.com with the search "get help with file explorer in windows 11". I feel many things about this.

I've complained about lldb execution performance on here a few times before, and I finally actually found out what the issue is.

When launching a process in a debugger on Windows by default it enables a bunch of debugging stuff for heap allocations, which is quite a lot slower. This is, as I understand it, on system level so the CRT may also have debug stuff on top of this.

The MS debugger by default sets _NO_DEBUG_HEAP=1 in the environment, which disables this, which lldb does not.

Hello! I'm looking for a job, programming stuff from games to simulations to tools.

I've been recovering from burnout the past couple of years, hence the gap in the CV.

Remote or in Helsinki area.

I have a couple of leads in the works, reaching out to see if there are any opportunities that I have missed.
Not like the best time to look for a games job, interested to try out adjacent fields too.

I self-host now: this account runs on my own server and my own domain, @mbr

The old instance is shutting down and the auto-migration only carried a fraction of you across. If you can read this, you're already in the right place.

Everyone else has to re-follow by hand. Please BOOST this to help me get back everyone :)

this early portable sony ebook reader (Electronic Book Player DD-10EX) has fascinated me for years, but there's something about the unsettling bovine ouroboros logo for the CIA World Factbook that gives me enough pause to never buy one

1 year ago, I started working on my game, "Summit". It's fun to look back at the humble beginnings. I didn't have more than a camera controller and basic movement.

Now, 1 year later the game features:

- Server authoritative networking with client side prediction
- A custom, super flexible, network replicated entity system
- Matchmaking and server orchestration
- Real art and graphics, not just placeholders
- Actual gameplay 😅

Thank you all for the support 🫶

@doctormo Watched all of The Good Place now (I think you were the one recommending it). Great stuff!

I've had ""Disable when typing" turned on for my touchpad in KDE, but I've turned it off lately because I needed to be able to drag something with space held. Now I'm _constantly_ accidentally clicking random places while writing because I touch the pad with my palm.

I can't remember having this issue _at all_ with my previous laptop. Is palm rejection a hardware thing or something that's configurable?

This is not a "hill I will die on" thing but I do feel single .h + single .cpp libraries are just as good or even better than pure "single header libraries". Especially when there's "#define SOME_LIBRARY_IMPL in one TU" involved. I'd rather just have that separately then.

I've worked quite a lot with 3D graphics, physics and stuff, and consider myself having quite a good sense of spatial reasoning; twisting and turning things in my head. Still, for some reason mitering these assholes (ceiling skirting boards, don't know the name of this type in English) breaks my brain. I can think about it for 5 minutes and then go cut them wrong.

I once reinstalled a computer and asked a friend to come over with PkZip because I needed to unzip something, and he brought a floppy with it on... zipped.

I think I took a wrong turn somewhere.
