I swear I am not doing it on purpose (also, got bots working, so that's pretty cool! 🔥)

1 year ago, I started working on my game, "Summit". It's fun to look back at the humble beginnings. I didn't have more than a camera controller and basic movement.
Now, 1 year later the game features:
- Server authoritative networking with client side prediction
- A custom, super flexible, network replicated entity system
- Matchmaking and server orchestration
- Real art and graphics, not just placeholders
- Actual gameplay 😅
Thank you all for the support 🫶
This is actually huge. Big W from TIDAL on this one. Gives me hope for the future. I know Deezer are also already tagging AI content.
A few weeks ago I celebrated hitting 400 followers on my Twitch channel by making a song live on stream!
It's been out on all major streaming services for a while now. However, yesterday I also published an EP called "Through the Remixes" which features remixes from some of my viewers!
I am super impressed by the talent of everyone involved. If you want to check it out, it's available on all major streaming services now, or check it out on YT here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CalIt3DZ9pQ&list=OLAK5uy_kPDnf4RZgcGA-G9H5izPNqWgtoD6lTnEQ
I finally finished a project I have been working on for a couple of weeks now: gdlike, a lightweight C++20 toolkit for working with binary #Godot data from your C++ code.
What it provides:
* Lightweight representations for the Godot variant/type system
* Facilities for reading and parsing the binary Godot formats (pck, scn)
* Lightweight node and scene tree representation
This also marks my change from GitHub to #codeberg as a hosting provider!
Check it out at https://codeberg.org/znurre/gdlike
The last part in my blog series about the Steam SDK is finally out!
This one ties everything together, and explains what "mod dir" is actually used for, why using STEAMGAMESERVER_QUERY_PORT_SHARED is important, and much more!
This is information that to my knowledge is not documented anywhere else - not even in the Steamworks SDK documentation or in any of the closed partner discussions.
I hope you enjoy 😊

Thanks a lot everyone for the support! I am super happy to see that so many people seem to have enjoyed my first article on the blog! 🫶
I am also happy to announce that I have just published the next part in the article series. Both of these articles are leading up to one final article, hopefully to be released later this week.
Hope you enjoy!
I have started a blog! The idea is to post a bunch of technical articles there, and first out will be a series of blog posts talking about my experience of using the Steam SDK.
I was kind of baffled to find how bad the documentation is, and that there are no good publicly available examples of how to use it.
My first article explores the SteamGameServer API and server queries https://blog.avoidpointer.com/how-does-one-use-steammatchmakingservers-anyway/
I want to stress that this is obviously not Jolla's fault, but rather an unfortunate side effect of payment solutions being pushed by banks and other corporate entities which do not care about inclusivity in the digital space.
All payment solutions as well as digital identification *must* be completely open spec for anyone to implement, otherwise they are flawed by design.
Of course, the irony here is that this will likely just end up getting rid of one US based duopoly in favor of strengthening another one (Apple and Google).
European alternatives such as #Jolla are effectively locked out of these solutions, because they have too little market share, and these payment solutions are not open spec whatsoever.
No one is talking about how to break that status quo. Why would anyone want to get a phone/OS combo that locks you out of fundamental things in society?
RE: https://social.lansky.name/@hn100/116047223853314925
While it's obviously good that the EU becomes more independent from the US, the focus on having this be a software based solution is scary.
We can already see in Sweden, how Swish has created digital exclusion, where some people cannot pay for products and services, just because they have the wrong/too old phone.
Cards might not be perfect, but at least they are ~20€/year pieces of plastic, not 500€ phones that can become unsupported at any point in time.
Is it just me who is chronically unable to look ahead when reading recipes for cooking? I tend to read instructions 1 by 1, and I absolutely hate it when not all information I need is available at my current instruction.
Like, would it be so hard writing "chop the onions and add them to a large bowl", rather than writing "chop the onions" and then only 3 steps later telling me what to do with them?
I absolutely hate this.
Just need to shoutout my friends nujank. monochroma380 and pageofmoths who just released their "JankJam2 Demo Disc", which is a love letter to the PSX/N64 era of games.
I have followed the streams since the start, and it's crazy how much love and passion has been poured into this project from everyone involved.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please go check them out at https://nujank.itch.io/jankjam2-demo-disc 😊
A lot of people have asked me on stream about how to get started with C++ in Godot, so I have finally gotten around to creating the most minimal godot-cpp example possible on my GH for others to learn from.
I feel like most of the existing examples try to do too much, overwhelming new learners.
You can check it out here if you're interested! https://github.com/Znurre/godot-cpp-example
Had my first ever 3v3 playtest of my game on stream tonight!! Huge progress for this project I have been working on in my spare time for the past 6 months or so.
Curious about what it looked like? Check out the VOD at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2652645701?t=06h30m00s 😄
I am also streaming on this channel most days except for Wednesdays, so feel free to stop by and say hello! 😄
Published it to Bandcamp now as well! So go to https://l00nytek.bandcamp.com/album/l00nyverse-107-exe to check it out if you are interested.
It's pay what you want, so you can download and enjoy it for free 😊
On this subject - I am honestly curious. What kind of design do people prefer for laptops?
The majority of all non-Apple laptops have "slants" and are not evenly thick, but is this due to market demand, or something else?
For this reason, I want to run a poll. If you had the choice, would you rather choose an evenly thick laptop with no slants, or one with slants?
Feel free to reply with your reasoning.
Boosts for visibility are much appreciated 🙏
Today I witnessed a fantastic social interaction.
I am walking home to my apartment when I pass by a couple. I see how a man in a car is trying to get their attention.
Man: - Hi there!
Couple: - Hi...?
Man: - Do you recognize me?
Couple: - Yes
And that was the entire social interaction. The couple kept walking 😄
The album is now released!! Please let me know what you think 🤗

I gave up on CD Baby. They came back to me after almost 2 weeks letting me know they could not publish the album because it had a "file extension" in the album name. And they had the audacity to ask me to change the album name as well as the cover art.
Went to Distrokid, and the album was on all major platforms within 12 hours. No issues whatsoever.
Yesterday I sent my first ever album for distribution?! 🤯
I am using CD Baby, so the inspection might take some time, but it's now closer than ever before to actually getting released.
It's been a long time coming, and it feels kind of unreal that my music will soon be on major streaming platforms.
