so here’s a weird intellectual property question… i have some kaleidoscopes from, like, glass artists that i’ve been meaning to capture some digital photos through to use in various projects. if i’m going to go through the trouble, my preference would be to release these images to others as well… these are ‘analog’ in that you have endless freedom on how you rotate the art glass pieces before the prism, but the glass is still the artist’s doing. is there any sort of copyright snag here?

photo shot through the window of a sheryl koch kaleidoscope. the prisms make some obvious hexagonal reflections of purple, red, orange, and blue bits of fused art glass.

@brhfl copyright, no. There is no conceivable way to predict what image you might copyright. I think if you can credit and link that would be really sweet.

@poetaster yeah i very aggressively believe in attribution… which is genuinely the only way this could even come back to bite me if it ~was~ a problem… 🤦‍♀️

@brhfl no way to be a problem unless they publish images in which they aggressively claim derivative rights coverage. I doubt that? Attribution for the win anyhow!
