so here’s a weird intellectual property question… i have some kaleidoscopes from, like, glass artists that i’ve been meaning to capture some digital photos through to use in various projects. if i’m going to go through the trouble, my preference would be to release these images to others as well… these are ‘analog’ in that you have endless freedom on how you rotate the art glass pieces before the prism, but the glass is still the artist’s doing. is there any sort of copyright snag here?

first listen of the new release from @CoralineAda today… i’m primed to find this sort of thing very haunting between the apparitional data that are radio waves and the nature of scattershot religious proselytism… but i doubt i’m alone in that, and even setting that all aside it’s just deeply evocative. very good stuff; https://coralineada.bandcamp.com/album/prophets-of-shortwave-a-documentary

i already think that infinite scroll/loading content into a theoretically-loaded page is an internet crime we never should’ve accepted, but blurring the already-loaded content while fetching the next items is truly a fresh new hell

i know i grump a lot about rounded corners and other current ui... decisions. it's not even really about the aesthetics, it's about this pointless need to chase trends. it's about lacking conviction. lacking an identity. it's just sad.

because ebay has decided to continue to ruin their already shit service with more and more ai, there’s an updated privacy policy folks should probably read.

and, this likely isn’t even new (i haven’t compared the old/new policies yet etc., sorry i’m being vague) but it did lead me to the opt out of training page…

i backed up allllll my music production shit this weekend, if anyone wants to give me a high-five

this track remains filed under ‘atmospheres i’d love to evoke,’ just so beautifully haunting https://richardchartier.bandcamp.com/track/wistful-wishful-wanton

hmmmm new orbital coming 2027-03 interesting interesting

i was going to just sort of make an off-handed comment about how ads should still look like this, but the more i pored over it the more i think these are, for the most part, really clever ways to illustrate various forms of dynamics processing. reminds me a bit of the illustrations in brodie’s ‘learning forth.’ i miss this sort of educational whimsy.

for those who don’t know, an early version of dan & kathe spracklen’s sargon chess engine was distributed as a book of z80 assembler code. this included routines for a graphic board. the whole thing is well-documented. the sargon engine lived an interesting life that i’d love to really do a deep dive on at some point. apologies for the internet archive screenshots; i’m not with my copy of the book.

talking about tandy 102s with @nflux has me thinking about the cambridge z88 again and also my long-term project idea of entering the sargon chess engine into a machine by hand and documenting the process… will have to mull over the plausibility of this…

browsing the math rock tag on bandcamp, start reading about what i’m listening to, see drew gooden’s name, think “can’t be ‘road work ahead’ drew,” do a search and find out it is in fact road work ahead drew. anyway, solid album of instrumental rock https://arythmiamusic.bandcamp.com/album/parasocial

me at the not-shoegaze show: they’re just staring into the abyss that is the audience! they’re not even paying attention to their pedals!!!

i was planning on popping out of the apt. tonight, wish i could remember why

i need to start a little trinket box of stuff for the phase8

wild how often i see some version of ‘a downside to this synth is all the parameters that can only be accessed via the editor, meaning you need a laptop for performance’ when all the ccs are right. there. in. the. manual.

while i was rewatching ‘malá mořská víla’ last night i was thinking again about moving off of plex and onto jellyfin or something… but tbh i haven’t seen any of these things that actually use metadata; they all seem to just rely on weird filename schemes… if i have to jump through filesystem hoops anyway, i’m not really seeing any advantage to even running a ‘media server’ vs. just streaming shit over the existing network share to vlc…

there really is no other album quite like treats https://sleighbells.bandcamp.com/track/run-the-heart

never noticed the tiny lil depiction of the ‘blown away’ man on these maxell microcassettes before

at the point where the amount of trust i put into a piece of software has a directly inverse relationship to how round that software’s corners are
