@schratze@todon.nl im feeling like we need a seprate name for the type of datacenters being used for AI, because like, normal data centers used to colocate resources and stuff are pretty useful for controlling cost and power usage, and are not that bad(i stayed in a hotel next to Telehouse west and you could not hear it, but thats because it likely has to comply with londons planning rules and isnt having to generate its own power because... its not for hyperscaling BS). but the hyperscaling bullshit that is happening is causing so much harm

@schratze indeed. my “data Center” is a stack of old and failing hard drives in a pile of refurbished computers and runs at about 200w peak load.
@schratze "Data shed" might be a better term for these.
