I was browsing the introduction hashtag and it looks like interesting ppl are joining but then I saw three posts in a row with very similar structures, including an AI generated (seeming) image of a pet at the end.

Is there some weird bot thing happening or are people just happening to post really similar intros?

@minmi Oh I see what you mean, there are like three intros in a row with that. Though I'm pretty sure the person in the feed before them when I searched the introduction hashtag who admits to working at Elsevier is real, because who would fake that? (Not going to boost the intro because the guy will be rightfully dogpiled and I don't need to be part of that)

@minmi The formats being so similar and the alttext often using "warm" as an adjective to describe an illustration of a pet is weird.

There were two profiles that were further down the queue that I boosted because they had formats similar to each other but not these and it almost seemed like a pair of friends who migrated here together and took "use hashtags" a little too much to heart. And the weird mixes of interests are normal weird for here.

@SRLevine yea idk i hope it’s just a coincidence or something cause they seem like interesting ppl but it felt odd

@kristinHenry @minmi chiming in to report that I have noticed a few more “camgirl” and scammy accounts popping up on #Pixelfed … some folks may have decided it’s worth the effort to con Mastodonians
