Just finished #reading the #book “Nova” by Samuel R. Delaney. I certainly enjoyed it and would generally recommend it to folks who like #SciFi! Kind of like Dune, in a way — a small band travels to a distant land to search for great treasure. Some amusing meta-narratives too. Special thanks to the books-and-cassettes vendor who gave me the suggestion to read it.
I’m gonna reboot my #solarpunk #newsletter inbox #zine before the end of the year. Will be covering #media diet, #music recs, what I’ve been #reading, etc. Check out the archives and subscribe if you want to! https://buttondown.com/readme.txt
Enjoyed #reading this article today from WIRED: “Meet the Sad Wives of AI”.
Fascinating commentary on #labor especially in hetero relationships in the USA, and IMHO very well-written.

> Recently, #Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella wrote a blog post asking people to stop calling AI-generated content "slop" and to think of AI as "bicycles for the mind."
Bicycles turn fat into fuel and make you stronger when you use them.
#ChatGPT makes you lazy, weak, and complacent. It's not a bicycle for the mind, it's a car!
The author has a few choice words for #Microslop as well 😉

Finished #reading Picks and Shovels by Cory Doctorow (@pluralistic). A fun journey into an earlier time of computing with an amusing religion-vs-ethics theme. Recommended for fans of #sanfrancisco (as well as haters) and #security or tech nerds who like The Dead Kennedys (as the #punkrock group is mentioned and referenced often). I was also interested to learn how I might run a mail-order business while staying in hiding. Always take a lot away from Cory’s books. I recommend it!
Lol. Lmao, even!
“When a group of libertarians set about scrapping their local government, chaos descended. And then the bears moved in.”
Seriously, fascinating read and investigation of what are the broader effects of libertarian policies. #reading #uspol #newhampshire #bears #libertarian

I have read this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you’re interested in #urbanism or #solarpunk, I recommend you look for it in your local library!

Delightful survey of small vehicles in #tokyo, likely of interest for fans of #japan, #bicycle riders, #solarpunk enjoyers, and those who subscribe to #urbanism.

Hi, Mastodon! I joined :mastodon: before the #twittermigration kicked off because I love exploring new apps and social media sites.
I’m a programmer by trade, usually working on web apps using #typescript and of course #javascript (we love it just the way it is lol :blobmiou:)
I’m constantly #reading, especially #scifi, #clifi, and #solarpunk! I’m passionate about music, especially #technomusic and electronica. Catch me at #neotropolis… IYKYK 🙃

A research team at Illinois Institute of Technology has developed an innovative electrolyzer that can efficiently convert carbon dioxide into renewable propane fuel. https://scienceswitch.com/2023/08/22/revolutionary-electrolyzer-efficiently-converts-co2-into-renewable-propane-fuel/
My partner (not yet on Mastodon) shared this interesting #preprint about using #machinelearning on #dna to predict… something. I don’t fully understand honestly but it seems cool!
