F**king narcissists. Why do they cause so much social damage when left unchecked? I'm referring to my personal life, but the personal is the political. I've had "factitious imputations" hurled at me privately or about me. Hitchens' Razor applies of course, and yes, it's a storm in a tea-cup in the bigger picture, the trouble is, when it's this dirty, this up close, and this personal, it direly and directly affects oneself. Unfortunately things escalated enough inter-personally that the "grey rocking" technique cannot be readily employed.

corporate-backed centralized social media is problematic.

Scene from "Lost Highway" by David Lynch set in a car mechanic's garage:
Mr. Eddy: "You like pornos?"
Pete: "Pornos?"
Mr. Eddy: "Give you a boner?"
Pete: "No thanks, Mr Eddy."
Mr. Eddy: "Suit yourself, champ!"

I cut over to RFC 7217 stable IPv6 privacy addressing on my primary FreeBSD box. This should save me from the auto-doxxing portion of Torment Nexus.

I can tie things down at the border now, although I've let Windows talk IPv6 now. RFC 7217 addresses are specified to be stable as long as one does not migrate link or *presumably* renumber the prefix on the link.

One must add ifconfig "stableaddr" options in rc.conf for the relevant links, and explicitly enable the new feature with doas sysctl net.inet6.ip6.use_stableaddr=1.

doas sysctl net.inet6.ip6.use_tempaddr=0 is needed to stop using regular privacy addresses (which can co-exist and are still preferred) after the fact.

Restart netif and rtsold as appropriate. A side effect is that the regular EUI64 derived SLAAC addresses just do not appear on the wire now. This does not affect link-local.

I walked over to the Italian place and picked up dinner, and something happened that has happened to me before.

When I got there and said I had a to-go order I was treated very dismissively and told coldly to go wait with the other drivers.

When I said it wasn’t for a service, I’d called it in for my wife and me, they were immediately more polite, asking me if I wanted a cocktail while I waited, etc.

Good ol’ classism. Humans love that shit.

I literally have no code of my own on GitHub now, apart from stuff that gets picked up by repo mirrors. It clocks up as "activity" there though.

My profile on GH is about as minimal as one can get. I don't pull from GH projects which I do track via SSH any more even though it is more efficient than git tunneled over HTTPS methods, and I do not do so frequently.

So in economic terms, I externalize the costs of exercising my GDPR-backed human right to privacy back onto Microsoft, by way of using their "free at the point of use with massive downside risk" services, when the real action is elsewhere now; the modest concession I make to their own culturally and economically appropriated network effect.

I think this might have been what W R Clement was referring to in "Quantum Jump" by his coined slang "quantum jiu-jitsu" but the trouble is the quantum bit is now being appropriated as well. Ditto rationalism, ditto COGSEC.

she's been doing it for months!!

There's a dust-up over an AI ad from Bookshop.org. But they didn't use AI; Meta's ad platform automatically created an AI "variation" of the original, non-AI content.

I went to disable this crap in our Shiraki Press ad account, and got served a popup *demanding a reason why*.

Fuck Meta for this. Consent matters. We've just pulled all paid advertising from their platforms.

Subject: Revoking my copyright assignment
--text follows this line--
Hi!

Way back in 2015 September, as part of the Copyright Aggregation Project
by Debian and the Software Freedom Conservancy, I transferred my past
and future copyrights on programs controlled by the Debian Project to
the Software Freedom Conservancy. I sent a photo of the signed paperwork
on September 28th, 2015, in an email with the message-id:
<87k2rbq8g7.fsf@madhouse-project.org>, and received a countersigned
reply on the 30th, in an email with message-id:
<87fv1w21qv.fsf@ebb.org>.

I hereby revoke my copyright assignment for future contributions to
Debian.

I do so because our values no longer align, and I cannot, in good
conscience, let the copyright assignment remain in effect. Even if I
have not contributed to Debian in years, even if the chance of doing so
remains small, it's not zero, and when I do, I will **NOT** contribute
and have the copyright be assigned to an organization that failed
miserably to stand up against the LLM plague.

I do not know what's the process here, if I need to send any signed
papers or such. If I do, please send me a template I can fill out. For
the record, since the original agreement was signed (attached, for
reference), I have moved, and no longer reside at "[old address]",
my current address is "[new address]".

The revocation of my copyright assignment (and anything and everything
else covered by the original agreement) should be effective as of today,
June 18 2026.

Regards,

The crawlers have knocked my sites offline1, keeping things online required considerable financial effort2, even more work to counter the crawler assault3. My work has been stolen and regurgritated. I've had trouble finding work due to my unwillingness to use these "things"4.

There are countless people who can say the same.

The entire "AI" business is evil. What do we do with evil? We fucking fight it, not debate it, not "keep an open mind" about it.

And if you can't reach a consensus in an organization? Then do the next best thing: shut up. Or you end up burning bridges, and burn them hard.

1. They no longer do, but not for lack of trying. ↩︎

2. Upscaling my server from time to time was not cheap, for one, and that's only half of it. ↩︎

3. I'm proud of what I accomplished with iocaine, but I could have spent the time I had to dedicate to it on better things. ↩︎

4. I'm okay on the work front at the moment, though. ↩︎

Got a reply, my request has been forwarded to responsible parties. The reply also included an ask to keep an open mind.

For the sake of transparency, this is the reply I'm sending:

> I mainly am replying, though, to say I respect your opinion and to
> ask you to at least keep an open mind regarding what the values are.

Sorry, I have no desire to change my mind. My stance on LLMs is
unshakeable, and it is not a moderate stance[1]. The only way it can
change is going more extreme.

I'll sign any papers regarding the revocation if necessary, and see to
it that it's properly done, but I wish to have nothing to do with the
SFC or anyone involved with aforementioned policy in the future. Sorry.

Four months ago, I asked the SFC to assign copyright back to me for any future Debian contributions I may make. They asked for some time, because people were on leave, and events were coming up, and so on. I said sure. I had - and still don't - have any plans to contribute to Debian anytime soon, so it's not very urgent.

However, four months later, my standing copyright assignment to a pro-LLM entity is in stark contradiction with my stated very much anti-LLM values. While I am in process of exiting tech, I haven't fully done so yet, and this is starting to hurt me, I have to explain it to people, and point them to this thread. It sucks.

So I emailed them again today, asking them to assign my copyright back as soon as possible.

Some days, one wishes to be the disappearing hitchhiker from the UK Channel 5 TV idents. For me today is not one of those days, because I just had some epic takeaway for dinner.

(He literally puts his thumb up... and VANISHES... in the segue to the next part of the ident. Good luck finding a screen cap; I can't find one, so here's the "Utterly Charming" scene from Repo Man.)

Sandwiched strategic media intake on a Saturday afternoon: just been listening to Michael Nesmith on the late Gilbert Gottfried podcasts, and now queueing up Repo Man by Alex Cox from 1984 for those epic opening bars. Ignoring the fake nudes of Lisa Kudrow (of "Smelly Cat" fame). I have Ch.10 of Levy to read. Unfortunately some of the stronger assumptions for capabilities which he makes in the summation, don't always hold in their modern interpretations.
