I walked over to the Italian place and picked up dinner, and something happened that has happened to me before.

When I got there and said I had a to-go order I was treated very dismissively and told coldly to go wait with the other drivers.

When I said it wasn’t for a service, I’d called it in for my wife and me, they were immediately more polite, asking me if I wanted a cocktail while I waited, etc.

Good ol’ classism. Humans love that shit.

@rk I don't know if there was more to the experience, and not defending treating anyone rudely, but I've also seen doordash (and similar) drivers behave very differently (worse) than customers. I think it's more about the incentive structure in a very different relationship.
