Sep 23, 2026, 6:50 AMDo Meta employees even like their own Meta glasses? (In collaboration with @bitsoffreedom )

"Asbest is niet het probleem, het zijn de mensen die er in zagen die het probleem zijn" 🤣😅
grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 7:16 AM@Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom its cool but why are you harrasing employees? xD their work is already shit as they work for META.
Its kind of like going to Booking and asking: "How do you like sponsoring genocide?!!".
I think it would be better if you hunt for manager of whole META branch or something. Regular employees work for money just as we all do.
Sibrosansibrosan@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 7:27 AM@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
They work for META, fully knowing what kind of company it is they work for, don't they? "Working for money" doesn't mean they are not complicit.
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 8:15 AM
@sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom and this gives you permission to harass them? What if they are not proud of their work and only do it for money as there is no other job on the market?
Fubaroquefubaroque@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 8:28 AM
Michel PatriceMichelPatrice@jasette.facil.servicesSep 23, 2026, 8:36 AMThey haven't been constantly harassed. They were made a little fun of, once, one morning, on their way to work. The guy had the decency to hide their face.
He hasn't been mean, it was light hearted humor.
I understand that we should understand that this is only a job, that this might be the only job available and so on. On the other hand, their job is making everybody else's life a little worse.
tyiltyil@fedi.tyil.nlSep 24, 2026, 6:26 AM@MichelPatrice@jasette.facil.services @grayrattus@mastodon.socialI understand that we should understand that this is only a job, that this might be the only job available and so on
There's quite a few jobs in the Netherlands right now. Even in tech. But there are indeed very little jobs that make that kind of money, and that is what they're really interested in. They could still live a very good life making a lot less money and having some moral values, if they actually cared.- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 6:52 AM
@tyil @MichelPatrice "They could still live a very good life making a lot less money and having some moral values, if they actually cared." - if you have 3 kids, a mortgage 550 000 euros for 30 years and car in Amaterdam corporate jobs are the only options to cover expenses.
- tyiltyil@fedi.tyil.nlSep 24, 2026, 7:22 AM@grayrattus@mastodon.social @MichelPatrice@jasette.facil.services And of course living outside Amsterdam is not a life worth living.
Sep 24, 2026, 9:14 AM@tyil @grayrattus @MichelPatrice A mortgage of 550000 euro is not in Amsterdam. ;)
But every job is a choice. Being a soldier, a butcher is a choice. So why not working at Meta. Or, maybe, they just dont care.
Please read the books of Jan Eggers about the Circle. He is so on point.
- tyiltyil@fedi.tyil.nlSep 24, 2026, 9:41 AM@si2mev@mastodon.social @grayrattus@mastodon.social @MichelPatrice@jasette.facil.services I didn't come up with the number, I don't know how much mortgages are over there right now. But I do know from first-hand experience you can get a way lower mortgage right outside Amsterdam, and you can halve it by moving even further.
But every job is a choice
Correct, and with every choice there can be consequences. If you're in the army, and it turns out the army is shooting children for fun, for instance, you can expect some people to dislike this. This may result in you getting questions about the situation. You can cry "I didn't know" or "I'm just doing my job", or you can be an adult.Or, maybe, they just dont care.
They just don't care about others specifically. This is what I argued earlier in the thread, as it seems most likely.
Krupokrupo@infosec.exchangeSep 24, 2026, 7:20 PM@tyil @grayrattus @si2mev @MichelPatrice at higher ranks of some firms, you often get a company car there ...
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 7:30 PM
@krupo @tyil @si2mev @MichelPatrice deffinitely people who entered the building via main enterance came there by car
- Michel PatriceMichelPatrice@jasette.facil.servicesSep 24, 2026, 8:31 PM
@grayrattus @krupo @tyil @si2mev
It turns out that Meta took the video offline.
- Michel PatriceMichelPatrice@jasette.facil.servicesSep 23, 2026, 8:38 AM
And there are other jobs. But they won't quit their job over this because it was only one dude making a little fun of them, once.
I'm sure they can suffer this.
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 8:53 AM
@MichelPatrice and what is then the purpose of this "suffering"? Dont you feel like it will only make you feel better for a moment and they could loose their job due to this one unfunny prank?
It would really be better if this guy found out who is a top manager and ask him. Otherwise ita just bullying already bullied employes. And thats fucked up.
- Michel PatriceMichelPatrice@jasette.facil.servicesSep 23, 2026, 9:14 AM
The quotation marks on "suffering" are appropriated.
It is funny.
What ever top manager he will find will still be some unimportant employee.
But it is nice to think that some really big top managers somewhere have to see that their own employees are uncomfortable with these creep glasses and have to see their creep glasses made fun of.
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 9:22 AM
@MichelPatrice I work enough in corporate to know that managers dont care about it at all. They are only there for profit and if a single employee said something bad about meta they would be fired immediatelly.
Please if you ever do similar stunt focus on managers and not on minions. Their life is already fucked up. Its easy to bully already bullied but it takes guts to for example record some higher management sniffing coke in one of Amsterdam clubs.
- Sibrosansibrosan@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 10:09 AM
@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
What do you mean "harass them"
The guy simply uses the product that their employer markets to the public, within their employer's guidelines for it.
Do you somehow suggest that this is not perfectly all right?
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 10:21 AM
@sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I see you still try to turn this into some kind of a joke but Im not joking. This is harassement and its not funny.
He recorded vulnerable employees and I think its pathetic.

A: Kanker op, kut. Als ik kinderen heb, hebben zij eten nodig, terwijl jij probeert mijn persoonlijkheid te gebruiken voor views op TikTok. - Sibrosansibrosan@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 10:50 AM
@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
Je reden om die vergelijking te maken is dat je aanneemt dat ik het net zo verkeerd vind als jij om Amazon-employees aan te spreken op het morele aspect van hun werk voor Amazon?
🤭
DreiradOlliefckusa@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 5:55 AM@grayrattus @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom Are you realising the Problem? If this one Video is harassment, what are those PervGlasses as product for our society? AI based corporate mass surveillance for marketing, AI Training and collaboration with Law Enforcement.
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 6:02 AM
@fckusa @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I understand the problem pretty well and I also understand that such actions dont make any impact other than they give you small spark of joy when you scroll the feed of your social network.
If you want to change something, protest in front of government buildings and meta headquarters. Dont haras employees. Focus on people who make decisions.
- DreiradOlliefckusa@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 6:20 AM
@grayrattus @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I agree on the protest with focus on the governments but even if every nation regulates this tech there won't be a coherent rulebook. We need to pressure every level of this industry accordingly to their role in this technology and employees working for Zuckerberg are a part of it. One of the minor parts but still. So I'm fine with this action. It's ok if you have your own view on that.
UkeleleEricUkeleleEric@mstdn.socialSep 24, 2026, 4:19 PM@grayrattus @fckusa @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom stop calling it harassment. Because, obviously, this guy is just using their company's product exactly as the company says. If they don't want to be known as pervert-enablers, they shouldn't work for the pervert-enablers' company.
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 4:32 PM
@UkeleleEric @fckusa @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I wont. Guy with the camera is harassing pedo glasses employees and I dont think its wrong to call something a harassment when I see one.
- UkeleleEricUkeleleEric@mstdn.socialSep 24, 2026, 4:45 PM
@grayrattus @fckusa @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I am beginning to suspect that you are a Meta employee or Meta bot, because you're so keen on protecting people who are willingly working for a fascist pardo organisation. Bye.
- Sibrosansibrosan@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 10:42 AM
@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
You mean *in your opinion* it is harassment and not funny.
I think that, to the extent that it can be considered harassment, it is not undeserved, since those people work for META, and moreover I find the videoclip both enlightening and funny.
Sep 23, 2026, 8:47 PM@sibrosan @grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom What would you say you learned from watching this video?
- Sibrosansibrosan@mastodon.socialSep 24, 2026, 5:41 AM
@prism @grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
That the intended use of the pervert glasses that META sells constitutes, in general, a gross violation of people's privacy, even if the company pretends it's just a harmless, fun product, and that even META's own employees are painfully aware of that, when confronted with someone using it in their presence.
sedjesedje@fosstodon.orgSep 24, 2026, 6:31 AM@grayrattus @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I don't think these were the cleaning staff. Quite a difference between actual compensated developers and low wage Amazon workers which you're defending in a follow-up post.
If you want to instigate change, you need to poke at all different levels. Indeed not _just_ these minions, but _also_. When more people feel the hypocrisy in their work, they can bring about a shift for the better, if only ever so slightly.
- UkeleleEricUkeleleEric@mstdn.socialSep 24, 2026, 4:16 PM
@sibrosan @grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom precisely.
QuantumQuantumAspect@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 10:55 AM@grayrattus @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom Every person has the responsibility to take a step back and assess the nature of the organization in which they consider themselves merely an insignificant cog, no matter how much they "need" a job. Failing to do so and worse making fallacious excuses for them inevitably leads to the Banality of Evil. Their victims have a right to a life too.

@grayrattus @sibrosan @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom This person made an attempt to open the eyes of the employees to this matter, by demonstrating the "joy" the flagship product of their company brings to innocent citizens.

”Won’t someone think of the fascism enablers?!”
Sep 23, 2026, 10:09 AM@sibrosan @grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom Few years ago, when we still got the luxury to be able to choose which job we wanted to do, that may have been partly relevant.
But this days (thanks to the USA gov and a few bunch of billionaries), with the global economic situation making everything expensive, housing less affordable, etc, people are just happy to have a work and keep it.- Sep 23, 2026, 10:10 AM
@sibrosan @grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom So, given this logic, is every USA resident a supporter of the current USA gov and its decisions, like the Iran war ?
- Sibrosansibrosan@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 10:11 AM
@ck0 @grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
You mean: given this faulty logic? I suppose so 🤔
- Fubaroquefubaroque@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 8:26 AM
@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom Ergens werken is niet neutraal. Het is een keus. Je wordt er meer of minder voor betaalt... en daar kun je zeker op worden aangesproken voor alles boven het niveau van vakkenvullen.
David Hembrowhembrow@todon.euSep 23, 2026, 9:19 AM@fubaroque Precies.

Sep 23, 2026, 9:17 AM@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom yea, where you work (especially if you have the option to work at meta or booking) is a choice. Deciding to work at a place that supports genocide means actively supporting genocide.
Walter van Holstwhvholst@eupolicy.socialSep 23, 2026, 3:27 PM@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom Working at Meta is a choice. There are 1.5 million job vacancies in the Netherlands. Even selling drugs on a street corner is more socially beneficial than working at Meta.
- grayrattusgrayrattus@mastodon.socialSep 23, 2026, 3:39 PM
@whvholst @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom I wonder how many of them will allow you to pay bills in Amsterdam.
- Walter van Holstwhvholst@eupolicy.socialSep 23, 2026, 4:37 PM
@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom Even assuming that one could not live anywhere else on the planet but in Amsterdam (poor soul!), there are plenty of jobs in Amsterdam that do not involve taking a job at a corporation that has been complicit in multiple genocides like Meta is.
Sep 24, 2026, 7:11 AM@grayrattus Good point. They're just doing their jobs. That's a great defense that's worked before. @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom
Mark Koekmkoek@mastodon.nlSep 24, 2026, 7:36 AM@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom this would typically not be people who have no choice where to work

@mkoek @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom sure, especially that a lot of people from the video did not even speak Dutch XD They probably have soooo many oportunities to work outside of corporate jobs.
Sep 24, 2026, 10:05 AM@grayrattus @Roelmaalderink @bitsoffreedom have you folks seen the average salaries for working at Meta? They could work anywhere better for a bit less. You HAVE to want to work at Meta in order to work at Meta.
