@cstross Liz Truss must be furious at the author for giving her an absolute hatchet-job in that autobiography.

I'm hoping to find a commemorative edition of this book that has its tenuous spine supported by a slipcase covered with decorative lettuce leaves.

@cstross that she (ghost) wrote a dumb book is one thing. That she made it all the way through the ranks of the Tories to become PM of London is what worries me a lot more. Surely somewhere within the party machinery someone wouldve figured out what a dud she was, and yet they gave here the highest job in the country. WTAF?

You intend to compete in the "Bad Review Stakes"?

That's a good pitch actually. I have one friend who reads a great deal of nonsense, particularly about the Middle East, just to keep up with the points of view expressed, and I suppose he would devour this with interest. But I've never felt that's the best use of his time.

Someone gave me a book by Thomas Friedman, which I then read. I asked him why he did that, and he apologized; apparently he was confused. As to why I read it, that's a known weakness I have when given a book.
