We had a weird thing happen this morning when lifting the anchor.

The chain was pointing straight down from the very beginning. I couldn't pull the anchor up by hand like I usually do, so we used a cockpit winch, but it was damn difficult (lots of weight on the line).

I was forward at the bow and could feel something rattling, possibly sliding off the chain as we lifted it gradually. We thought maybe the chain was caught on something? I expected us to pull something up, but then, when we finally freed the chain we found this...
