All of my 300+ browser tabs are beautiful

Yet another way to invoke functions without parentheses: https://blog.ikaes.de/yet-another-way-to-invoke-functions-without-parentheses/. This is a fun #JavaScript exploration!

Forked from this https://davidlazar.co/ extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/list-all-tabs/

I am a habitual tab hoarder (I have 321 tabs open right now) so I created a Firefox addon to help me manage every one of my very special tabs:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/list-all-tabs-updated/

You can sort your tabs by oldest, unload them, duplicate hosts, consolidate tabs to a single window — buncha useful stuff in there

Don’t forget about <syntax-highlight>, the original CSS Custom Highlight API syntax highlighter web component from André Ruffert!

I keep coming back to tabbed interfaces. https://www.aaron-gustafson.com/notebook/tabbed-interface-the-web-component/

I love posts like this from @zachleat (2 weeks ago - because, yes, I'm slow): https://www.zachleat.com/web/ai-websites/

I love them because I don't actually need to read anything and from the (rather fancy) live speedruns, you can see the whole point visually.

And wow, how is big tech so shit at this?

A little interval timer for everyone https://wrrk.app/

Most organisations want accessible websites, but their colour palettes weren't built with accessibility in mind.

Plenty of contrast checkers flag the problems, but we couldn't find one that also helps you fix them.

So we made one ourselves. Introducing ✨This hue shall pass✨ https://thishueshallpass.clearleft.com/?utm_source=CL_HSP%20Mastodon&utm_medium=CL_MD&utm_campaign=CL_HSP

We're pretty darn proud of this one, go give it a go and share it around your teams. It's in beta so tell us what you'd change in the comments, along with a little commotion for the name pun 👌

For years, people found @cloudfour because the articles we shared or the talks we gave. Our peers would learn from what we wrote and then when a project came up at their company, they’d suggest working with us.

We liked sharing what we learned perhaps even more than we liked the project work that paid the bills. We’d write about whatever we were learning about. People would read it. We’d get more projects and then have more to write about. It was a virtuous cycle.

GitHub just finished ripping styled-components out of github.com.
Result: 55% less time to server-render a page, 25% faster component init.

CSS-in-JS makes you pay for styles twice: collecting them on the server, running JS on the client.

Static CSS is *always* more efficient.

Ship CSS.

went to the local historic theater and watched goonies: four tickets, large popcorn, two candies, and two sodas: $18. wow!

I live every day praying that every single damn website on the world wide web will ask me to sign in with google and truly these are blessed times to be alive

@zachleat it looks bad. At least for now you can turn it off! https://eldritch.cafe/@lykrast/117362859430939369 (set browser.nova.enabled to false)

did anyone, uh, test it with multi-account containers before they shipped it or no

firefox 157 really leaned hard into border-radius on the tabs huh

Due to AI, I have disabled external pull requests on all my repos.

Open source, as we have known it, was fun while it lasted. (It’s been 15 years for me)

I will still maintain projects and handle issues.

New on the blog: How Firefox renders web components.

Specs say what should happen but I wanted to learn what a browser engine actually does. I followed a custom element through Gecko's source, from the registry to the reactions stack to the flattened tree Stylo styles.

Every step is a figure you can step through and replay. (I even animated the diagrams to help demonstrate the flow of data through the systems!)

I just deployed my instance of Speedlify to profile all my website pages.

Awesome work by @zachleat !

Now I got dozen of pages to fix 😅🤦‍♂️

Hey, friends—I'm excited to share my new project!

I call it Tupo. It's a daily logic puzzle with roots in sudoku, where every cell has to have a unique color-number combo.

Give it a shot if you like daily logic games, and let me know what you think!
