In 2008 I wrote a networking utility program for Linux. It's still maintained and used. Take the first letter of every sentence in its (rather long) man page and it spells "Never gonna give you up" etc etc. Nobody has ever mentioned it.
@fesshole Can’t think why. 😄 Well done though. Mostly for contributing to open source, but also for the dry humour.
@fesshole AHH but YOU know!
@fesshole This is the wholesome content the internet was made for. That and porn and the secrets of the military-industrial complex’s university divisions.
@fesshole it's been a whole hour and still nobody has gone through all manpages on their machine to find the one from the story
@fesshole
For a complicated Rick Roll, read the post above.

Rick-rolling; the l-o-n-g easter-egg version.
Beautifully crafted virtual Rickroll, including the 2008 date mention, the year of the Rickrolling mania.
I worked with a musician that put all kinds of things like this in their lyrics. Sometimes even the other members of the band didn't know.
Nov 4, 2026, 8:05 AM@fesshole I'm doing the very same in Debian security advisories, e.g. https://lists.debian.org/debian-security-announce/2007/msg00126.html
Nov 5, 2026, 10:09 AM@fesshole I bet these guys will find it. https://mendeddrum.org/@fanf/117563177222983819
I took a brief pass thru /usr/share/man/man[18]/n* on my system and didn't find any matches.
@fesshole did the same thing when translating a massive user manual for some industrial machinery software from Dutch to English (student job). Can't remember the exact phrase, but the first letter of each of many, many chapters spelt out something like "this manual is incredibly fucking boring"...
