Were you cool enough to have a minidisc player? No? Me neither…

@DJDarren well, that ended rather abruptly! Didn’t even give Feeder chance to finish 😳
@WiteWulf Oh, really? It seems ok from this end...
@DJDarren hmm, maybe summat weird with my setup, then. It just stopped partway through the song. Doesn’t usually 🤷♂️
@davidbcohen @WiteWulf One of the more insane aspects of NetMD was having to check tracks in and out of SonicStage. I think you had three goes at it. So if you transferred music you bought over to a three discs that you then lost, you were shit out of luck.
@DJDarren @davidbcohen nuts
@WiteWulf @davidbcohen It's been many years since I used it, but I think they updated SonicStage and removed that limitation not long after I got my first NetMD player. But yeah, it was definitely a thing for a while.
However, these days you can use a browser tool to copy tunes over, with no limitations beyond it being USB 2.0 at best, and therefore bloody slow.
@davidbcohen @DJDarren @WiteWulf I had a High MD for a while, 1 whole gigabyte on a disk, mind blown!
Saving files from Sonic Stage though... Sucks!
I was recording my own material onto it and the thing was just slow. Can't remember if it was 1x when saving or slightly faster, but whatever it was, 'twern't quick.
@FreakyFwoof @davidbcohen @WiteWulf Yeah, mine's Hi-MD. I may even still have one Hi-MD disc with it.
And yeah, the transfer speeds are...not great.
At the time though, they were miraculous compared to having to record in real time.
