Is AWS-East down again? Nothing seems to be responding this morning.

Hey I think I'll log on to the internet and see what is happening on the world wide web!

Oh.

1. Berapakah tingkatan agama yang disebut dalam hadits Jibril?

At this point, out of morbid curiosity, I wanted to see how else this could suck. What happens when you squish the window vertically with the super huge kebab menu open? Well obviously it just clips the menu and offers no way to get to the copious other items.

As a junior engineer I would get dinged in peer reviews if I added a text entry field and didn't specify a maximum length or ellipsize the text if the user put too much text in it. The window would have to respect resizing.

I clicked the kebab menu on the song and selected "Go to Album" on the next song that played, because it was a 30 year re-release from a band I love. All good so far. I then clicked on 1 of the 2 kebab menu's on the page so I can add this album to my library. And guess what? Google has removed the "Add to Library" entry from the kebab menu for the album. And what does "Pin to Listen Again" even do? If I could add it to my Library I'd obviously want to listen to it again.

Ben's thoughts...on UI.

I woke up this morning with a song stuck in my head, and because I'm apparently a masochist and pay $25 a month for YouTube Premium, I went to YouTube Music to hear it. And what do you know? They've changed their UI yet again. They've moved the cheese.

I found the song I wanted and clicked play. All good thus far. And even though I've disabled Autoplay previously, Google has re-enabled it for my benefit.

Get in loser, we're going on a UI rant thread...

Ok fine. What if I click the 2nd kebab menu on the song that's actually playing from this album. What will I see then?

Do I want to "Play Next" the song I'm currently listening to? Do I want to "Save to Library" this individual song instead of the whole album? Do I want to "Go to Album" for the current song that I'm already on the Album view for?

There are so many bad UI/UX decisions already made here. 2 kebab menus in a single view? That's a no no. What is the context differentiation?

Sudah lama tidak membeli pickle di kedai runcit Arab.

Reminded of a track I wrote with my friend James Berry.
'I Hate Traffic Wardens!'
I don't actually, my aunty was one and it's just a job, but that's what James says in the track.

“You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again…”

Fuckers, the lot of ‘em.

Europe, I say this in the kindest possible way: wake the fuck up!

This video of Donald Trump stopping to chat, wave and salute non-existent people is a reminder that you’re never too old to have imaginary friends.

#Sovereign does not mean alone. In a live demo, the Swedish, French, European Commission and Nato deployments of Matrix have a chat -- different homeservers, same #Matrix protocol. At the #MatrixConf 20-23 Oct in Malmö. @nato @numerique_gouv

Earlier, we heard from the developer of Fluffy Chat, aiming to bring the "decentralisation dream" to individuals, too: https://fluffychat.im/. @krille

On #GlobalEncryptionDay 🔒 we stand strong against encryption backdoors! 💪

We've just fought #ChatControl & we'll continue to fight wherever #encryption is under threat. But today we'd like to celebrate that 61% of all Tuta emails are sent end-to-end encrypted - a huge win for privacy. 🔥

Well, I regret to inform you that I did not win 94 million dollars. 🫤

“Sovereign doesn’t mean alone” cool demo of NATO, France, Sweden, and Germany separate #Matrix installations and operations exchanging fully secure messages. #MatrixConf - this was the demo I’ve been most excited to check out! Great team effort.

Every year the Values of #FOSDEM are put on display. The resistance to having a CoC. The complete lack of health policy or health precautions. The overcrowding and lack of disabled accommodations. The choice of corporate sponsors. The lack of financial transparency. The decision to platform Jack Dorsey etc.

It's not a safe space, and likely never will be for a whole bunch of reasons.

Yeah, it took me a while to see it too. Do you see it yet?
