On #GlobalEncryptionDay 🔒 we stand strong against encryption backdoors! 💪

We've just fought #ChatControl & we'll continue to fight wherever #encryption is under threat. But today we'd like to celebrate that 61% of all Tuta emails are sent end-to-end encrypted - a huge win for privacy. 🔥

Thanks to @smbccomics@birdsite.am-institute.swiss for the great comic!

October is #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth. Let's spread #Privacy & #Security together. 💪

So Google is killing Android Freedom but can't even keep its official Play Store safe?! 😡

A fake version of #Chrome app appeared on the Google Play Store above the real one - And Google is trying to stop you know side loading apps and only use its Play Store for 'Security reasons'. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

#Android is supposed to be open, & your phone should be yours → NOT GOOGLES.

Check out this cool open source tool that removes or disables unwanted AI components like Copilot, Recall, and other AI tools from Windows. 👏

Don't let Big Tech track you!💪🏼

🚨 GOOGLE IS KILLING ANDROID FREEDOM. 🚨

This #DiDay we call on you to take action & sign the petition:
https://www.change.org/p/keep-android-open-stop-google-from-limiting-apk-file-usage

Because Google must not decide what you can & can't download on YOUR Android device.

This undermines one of Android’s defining features: the freedom to install software from wherever you choose. 😤

#Android is supposed to be open, & your phone should be yours → NOT GOOGLES.

It’s time to support open alternatives like @GrapheneOS ✊

🚨RSA can get broken faster than expected - cryptographers are calling for quantum-resistant encryption now.

Brilliant write-up of a very technical topic by @dangoodin: https://arstechnica.com/security/2026/09/theres-a-new-way-to-break-rsa-thats-faster-than-anything-weve-seen-before/

Lesson learnt: Post-quantum migration is even more urgent.

🚨🇪🇺 The #ChatControl trilogue starts on Tuesday & the EU Council is trying to pressure Parliament into giving up its opposition. We must stop them once again! 💪🏼

And the proposed compromise isn't targeted policing, it is mass surveillance!

Because no matter the framing, the truth remains the same: There's no backdoor for the good guys only!

We at Tuta will continue to fight for your right to #privacy. Make your voice heard as well, today is the day!

→ One year later & this has not happened.

MEP, Andreas Schwab has said, "One year on, those conflicts of interest remain.”

The European Commission must not give Google more time to extend its market power. (And profit off your data)

#DeGoogle

Google is ignoring the rule, making €288 million in the EU - every day! Even though, the EU said stop. 🛑 One year later, Google's adtech conflicts of interest remain & it makes an estimated €288 MILLION EVERY DAY → More than €2 BILLION A WEEK. 🇪🇺😠

Last year the European Commission fined Google €2.95 billion for breaching the EU antitrust rules by abusing its dominant position in online ads.

It also said that due to conflict of interest Google may have to sell parts of its adtech business.

🚨 California says it wants to "protect children online".

Yet, forcing EVERYONE to verify their age won't stop harm - but put all of us under surveillance.

Age verification and ID checks cannot be the solutions. They rather destroy everyone's #privacy

The fight against #AgeVerification must continue ✊

Finally! EU 🇪🇺 designates ChatGPT, Reddit, Roblox under Digital Services Act 🥳

Why we celebrate this? Big Tech has to be held responsible and that's what the #DSA does:

🔍 Stricter systemic-risk assessments
🧠 More transparency around algorithms & recommendations
🧪 Independent audits & researcher access
🛡️ Stronger protection for minors & fundamental rights
💰 Fines of up to 6% of global annual turnover for serious violations

Let's fight for people's rights, not Big Tech's profits. 💪

"I have nothing to hide."

False.

You have medical history

You have financial behavior

You have location patterns

You have political views

You have relationship data

Privacy was never about hiding crimes. It was always about owning your life.

Switzerland's great migration away from US Tech begins. 🎉🇨🇭

The Swiss Federal Government has launched a pilot program to replace MS365 on 3,000 workstations with openDesk, a German open-source alternative.

The Swiss are taking a step in the right direction to achieve #DigitalSovereignty and control of their digital infrastructure.

Meta avoided its biggest legal challenge and it shows us one thing: Meta would rather pay an $18 billion dollar settlement instead of having to put its users' health and privacy first.

This is just further proof that Big Tech prefers to maximize its profits instead of respecting its users! 😡

5. Move Sensitive Emails

Turning off Gmail's smart features helps, but for truly private emails, consider using a separate service.
For medical, legal, or financial emails, use a free Tuta Mail account. It offers end-to-end encryption and doesn't use AI to scan your emails.

Keep Gmail for newsletters, promotions, and less sensitive messages - if you must.

4. Delete Gemini History

If you've used Gemini before, your chats may be saved, and some could be reviewed by humans.
Go to http://myactivity.google.com/product/gemini
→ Turn off Gemini Apps Activity → Delete Activity → All Time.
This removes your past Gemini chat history and stops future conversations from being saved.

3. Your Phone

The settings don't always sync between devices, so check the Gmail app separately.
Gmail app → Menu (☰) → Settings → Select your account → Turn off "Smart features and personalization" → Confirm.

2. The Hidden Switch

Turning off the first setting isn't enough. Most people stop there.
On the same settings page: Google Workspace smart features → Manage Workspace smart feature settings → Turn off both checkboxes → Save.

Both settings need to be turned off.

1. The Main Switch

This is the main setting Google shows you, but it's not the only one.
Gmail (Desktop):
⚙️ Settings → See all settings → Smart features and personalization → Uncheck "Turn on smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet" → Save Changes.

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this.

Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how.

Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places: https://tuta.com/blog/google-gemini-ai-email
