This is getting REAL fucking obnoxious. Finally after like 16 years I upgrade my 4x 1920x1080 LCD monitors. Old ones were DVI+VGA+HDMI, new ones are Displayport + HDMI.

Apparently the new monitors *turn off* the HDMI and Displayport interface when they go into DPMS sleep mode.

Which means Windows 10 thinks the monitor is "unplugged", which not only causes the "you unplugged a device" sound, but also rearranges all my windows, sometimes off screen that I can't get a mouse cursor on them, where I have to use an Elder Greybeard Trick of "alt+space, m, tap an arrow key, move mouse" to drag them into the visible area.

Apparently this has been a problem for over a decade.

I hate software.
