Always be improving

July 14, 2026.
I'm sitting on my balcony, making use of the lower temperatures before record breaking heat sets in. The sky is grey with wildfire smoke.
We had record breaking rainfall just two weeks ago.
Yet we haven't managed to at least slow down the rise in global CO2 emissions yet.
Climate change needs to move back to the political spotlight. Contact your representatives.
Claude, today, to me:
> Let me rewrite the spec to match reality.
I wish life was always that easy.
Another historic heat wave in Europe.
The expected extra strong El Niño hasn't even started.
Politics need to act on climate change _now_.
There is now a dedicated advocacy organization for the ALTO high-speed rails project!

The internet is a network of bots that humans can also use, to a degree
I won't be in Ontario on the day, and I don't know the organizers, but I'm happy to see someone is planning province wide protests against Doug Ford next weekend.
Actually I'm not quite sure whether worktree.ca is based on ForgeJo or Gitea, but one is a fork of the other and I really haven't looked into it more than that.
Really frustrated with github these days. On the positive side, ForgeJo seems to have really caught up. I've been playing around with https://worktree.ca, a canadian instance that adds github-compatible actions and deployments, and it's just *so* polished. And... Much faster than github. I am thinking of moving personal projects and potentially even work stuff.
> Rest assured that resolving these constraints is a top priority for our leadership team.
I rest assured, but I still can't spin up a droplet large enough to contain our database.
Apparently Digital Ocean has run out of hardware for their only Canadian cloud region.
We‘ve seriously arrived in „upgrade your computer?! In this economy?!“ territory
When I tell people that I don't drive much, almost everyone says "oh that's nice" or something like it... yet we can't invest in proper alternatives? 🤦🏼

#trains ! Let's build them!
🚨 Bill C-22 would force every Canadian internet provider, messaging app, and cloud service to build surveillance backdoors & store a year of your private data.
