“We have never seen this scale of mass criminalization before in Greece,” says Iliana Bompou, a lawyer with Equal Rights Beyond Borders, which has been providing free legal support to defendants in Crete’s courts since late 2025. “Not even during the daily landings on the Aegean islands during the 2015 so-called refugee crisis did we see numbers like this. Today in Crete, for every single boat that arrives, at least one so-called smuggler is identified.”

Interestingly, this is also how I do woodworking - get in the ballpark, then sneak up on a perfect fit.

That might also be why it seems to work better for me than for others -- I don't expect the right answer first time, I expect to have to shape it.
Trump has been promising Americans checks for two years. He actually sent some this time. Conveniently, just weeks before the election, and only to swing states. The fine print tells the rest of the story. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trump-bribe-obamacare-overcharge-rebate
This is how I usually work, even without agentic coding -- I guess something that sounds right, then shape it slowly to be closer and closer to what I want, zeroing in on the right answer.

I had the privilege to work with @jennwrites over 10 years ago. I still think about her content strategy and approaches that had a deep impact on my writing practice as a designer.
Anyone who needs skills and leadership in this area would be lucky to work with Jenn!

Do I need to explain how much of the code underneath this has to be in the ballpark of correct to even get this far?

wise words:
people say that paying the ransom to (ransomware) criminals should be illegal because it rewards extoring people. that logic seems sound!
why does this logic not apply to the refunds that your bank will (sometimes, has a legal obligation to) pay you if you got scammed?
n.b.: one could make a reasonable argument that visa/mc chargebacks are fine, because the merchant is liable. but if you got scammed into transferring money, a UK bank will just materialize 85k GBP for you. how does this create a good set of incentives
