    My resolution to not buy any new fabric until using up the old fabric has been absolutely destroyed by Lincraft's ongoing closing down sale.

    It's not my fault, I just can't resist flannelette.

    Also all the assorted $5/m mystery fabrics from China are now $2/m and while most of these are clearly some kind of plastic I found the last of a bolt which seemed to not be. Got it home and burn test confirms either viscose or pooossibly cotton. By the feel and drape (and cost!) honestly I'm pretty sure it's viscose but if anyone knows a test to distinguish the two for sure, let me know.

    @zeborah the internets seem to suggest the only way to tell is by petting the fabric/observing the drape. Sounds like you’ve already gotten as scientific as it gets!

    @schweerelos I've found one burn test chart that suggests that viscose curls more when it burns, and I definitely noticed it curling (I even wondered because of that if something was melting in there, but the flame was very enthusiastic about having organic matter to feed on and all the residue was nice and crumbly).
