    Just a heads-up for the birdwatchers in Ontario: saw the first Nighthawks an hour ago. They were in a hurry, as they always are.
    I'll be looking for them tomorrow, camera in hand.

    @canyakker Good luck! There is something special in nightjars. Partly because they are nocturnal but their behavior is also so different from us day dwellers. I once watched at dusk how a flock of Nacunda Nighthawks lay on the ground near water, purring. Then suddenly they all took off at the same time. A white flash.

    @Ttso That must have been awesome to witness.
    To me the Nighthawks are the most adrenaline pumping birds to try to photograph. Such a short window of opportunity: just the time it takes for the flock to fly from their sleeping area over my garden to their hunting grounds. They are so fast, and so erratic in their flight pattern.

    @canyakker Indeed, plus the scarce light. Here in Scandinavia, closest to the same level of difficulty comes the almost totally airborne Common swift (Apus apus) but that's a daytime species.
