    i think it's pretty clear that sanders has bought into at least some of the hype of the ai bubble. i remember some months ago he posted a video posting about the "existential risk" bs as if it was real

    on one hand, he recognizes the very real negative effects of ai, which already makes him better than 90% of those in politics and the media

    but if he believes that ai is actually transformative instead of just a speculative bubble, the solutions he comes up with will be at least somewhat misdirected

    the rest of the video was spot on, which is why the part about ai feels so glaring

    btw i love your comparison of llms to teflon, i think that's very apt. i think after the bubble pops we'll find that there are some relatively minor useful applications for llms but it's not going to change the world. and like teflon, there will be environmental/health impacts that make it not worthwhile for many of them
