Wow — Spokane did an evacuation drill back in April! That might help explain why, even though the recent fire was devastating in the number of homes and other buildings destroyed, it seems there was no loss of life and a hospital was able to do a successful evacuation.

The exercise also encouraged residents to sign up for emergency alerts, familiarize themselves with evacuation routes and think through critical decisions before an actual wildfire threatened their homes."

aipac almost stole this election, dumping nearly $70 million into this race, but it didn't quite work. hopefully more will oppose aipac and the dem establishment

in other positive news, progressive candidates won in michigan house races by larger margins: donovan mckinney (defeating an incumbent) and william lawrence

how much time did people take off work? when i asked at the surgeon's office they suggested 2 weeks. i work from home so i don't need to worry about commuting or anything, just the ability to sit at a desk and be reasonably comfortable

also, how did you communicate this to more casual acquaintances? for work, i'm thinking of saying "i need 2 weeks off for medical leave" or "2 weeks off for minor surgery" or something like that

but i'm also kind of curious if there's another surgery that would have a comparable recovery time that i could say it is if someone is nosy but i don't feel like revealing what it actually was to them (for work i'm sure i can keep it very generic but i want to have a "safe" answer ready)
