    Peppers and fruit today.

    Should probably mention that peppers are collected once a week while the fruit is collected daily. I get around 4-5 pitangatubas, 3-4 acerola, one pitomba, a few jabuticaba and goji a day in case ppl are interested in tropical fruit.

    Update: Rubber snakes didn’t work to keep out rabbits. They didn’t seem to recognize them. Got one more week to try out keep them out before fall planting. Sigh.

    2/2 Tomatoes in the back of the basket are coyote, a new variety from Mexico. They’re strangely sugary. Wild tomatoes next to them for size reference.

    They’re labeled as pimpinellifolium but the fruit and leaves are larger than normal wild tomatoes so I think they’re hybrids. That and wild tomatoes are not sweet.

    Wild tomatoes are more disease resistant than cultivated. These new ones are definitely fungal resistant as that’s a problem locally and the plant is disease free.

    @jblue I wonder if there are predator sounds that might scare them off. I mean, rabbits have those big ears...

    @DoomsdaysCW I tried that two years ago and they just become inured to the sound. I literally saw them browsing a few inches away from the loud bird alarm maker as it was blasting.

    @DoomsdaysCW I linked up the taller fencing today in a different way and also made little barbs out of galvanized, steel wire around the bottom and where the joints are so they won’t try to climb

    @jblue I don't know where you are but predator poo may work for the rabbits. Here they reckon lion poo keeps deer away and they would never have encountered them.
    Failing that how do you fancy ferrets?

    @Florapis I tried coyote urine last year, but it didn’t do anything. 😕

    I don’t actually want to kill the rabbits. I just don’t want them on my raised bed. I’m friends with one of them and will give it food if it asks me.
