@hisold @transfers yes I do, simply because that entire /8 subnet is expensive, even when split into /24 or /16 chunks.
- The DoD has way too many IPv4 addresses: They could literally give ever past, present and future servicemember & weapon a static IPv4 and still would've spares!

Aug 4, 2026, 10:20 AM@roblen IBM (denen früher mal 9.0.0.0/8 gehörte), hat einen Teil seiner legacy IP Adressen (IPv4) an SpaceX verkauft.
IPv4 Adressen werden mittlerweile wie Diamanten gehandelt.
Du solltest nix merken (außer du arbeitest bei der Erste Bank, die eine Zeit lang 9er Adressen intern verwendet haben).

Danke für die Aufklärung.Das heißt, die haben viel Geld dafür bekommen. Muss IBM Tafelsilber verscherbeln oder wissen sie nichts damit anzufangen? Als Endnutzer ist mir in den letzten Jahren IBM nicht mehr untergekommen.

At some point supply has to stretch thin. If that were to happen, prices would skyrocket and i'd be watching from the sidelines, popcorn in hand. Imagine needing IPv4 blocks and there just being nothing available at all... 😱
