The twist ending is that uninstalling the app entirely is the best case.
@Tak I disabled notifications on a delivery app because of their marketing spam. I don't know how that's legal
@Tak My local laundry service now requires an app and their most recent marketing notification was sent under "High Importance Notifications" 😑

@Tak Yup. If your app is not a necessity and I get a superfluous/promotional notification, it's gone. If I have no choice in the matter then yeah, you'll just never successfully push another notification to my device again. I barely have the patience for all the legitimate notifications I get; let alone apps that abuse the privilege.
