    Why is this such a complicated issue? Having a computer program make something, consuming masive amounts of power, contanimating gallons of water all so you dont have to take a picture or write a line of code or learn a new languge or ... or ... or ...

    Excuses are like assholes, we all have them. Hell, i probly got arrested last week because some scumbag used an AI to make up some crime since they are to.much corwards to just come out and say #homeless people are illegal in #AmeriKKKa

    @justbob I was referring to the "AI has some uses" crowd blatantly signaling they'd sell out the planet for some pocket lies.

    Like the people who'd hide their use for social acceptance.

    @vex @justbob i became vegan for the planet, my AI use is dwarfed by the impact of all the meat & cheese i don't eat anymore. I hope you call out those who sell out the planet for a cheeseburger (or any other animal product).

    @justbob I'd vote for a third option: Ban AI unless tagged with something like a content warning specific to AI that can be filtered out by servers and clients

    @justbob does the "ban all AI" include people using AI to translate posts for their own consumption? OCR/image description to make up for people not putting alt text? I assume you include any bot account, even self labelled, even providing a useful service, if it's AI powered? When you say *all* i have to ponder, and ended up voting "allow", that doesn't mean all is fair, i do understand cracking down on a lot of uses, but "ban all" seems excessive.

    AI is not a helpful term for limiting things precisely. I assume they mean generative text though - an LLM - whether it's for describing images or writing code for the server or whatever. I'm not assuming on device OCR counts but again, unfortunately, AI is an awful term when you want precession in your communication so it's up to interpretation here

    @justbob question oversimplifies and needs more nuance. starting with: define #AI ... we talking GenAI for images/videos? LLM text output slop posts? what is slop ... is the use of 'AI' as spell checker/translator or image alt generator included? are we talking about code contributions to fedi source code? etc...

    I blaim the corporations making $B on the homeless industril complex.

    And in this case, the shit head scum that POSSIBLY used AI to make up something just to get me out of the way as they STEAL a protest because you just CAN NOT have a bunch of homeless people(2 of us are vets) standing up for our US Constitional rights

    @justbob Oh, boy! You are using a very broad definition. Any automation can fit within. In that case I prefer to not ban any of kind of useful automation. That what I don't want to see is people not be able to meet their needs, despite their hard work. I don't want the earth resources being wasted for greed and desire for power. Also I hate con artists.

    I run several bots that reads RSS feeds. I have no problem with that kind of stuff but when you have a program writing medication scripts or putting out bench warrents or writing laws or ... or ...

    See where Im going? My bots are building a search system like they once did before all these corporations decided they could summerize (google) or guess what your looking for or decide that medication that could kill you or because your 1st and last name matches someone who stole from a corporation ....

    #TidySearch has ZERO javascript, the lang that is used to do everything including download software on your device.
