The Queenslanders sidestepped it by providing electric griddles etc at suitable points by beaches, rivers, etc.
Do that, then ban the redundant flammables.
@shiraz we have disposable barbecues here in Australia, they don't start fires because we have fire laws and education. Banning them won't stop the fires.

I'm generally not in favour of bans, and expect a ban on disposable BBQs to just result in people setting campfires in inappropriate places without them. Many of them will be made using bags of easylight charcoal, and once you ban the bags you have to ban firelighters, and eventually all accelerants. But you still wont stop reckless people starting fires
I'd like to see it made compulsory for the top of them to be one big fire hazzard safety warning label though.
