I'm reading aloud to the Kid an old adventure book, a favorite of my childhood. The writing is sometimes overly dramatic. As an adult, and knowing well the story, this part cracks me up (I'm just silly that way).
The protagonist, lost at sea in infancy, is searching for his family of origin. He's arrived to a place that may have some information.
The book: "Was he going to learn the secret which he was so anxious to make out."

If you haven’t had the pleasure of taking a dip in the cesspool that is the US legal system, let me just say that it is not adequate for a prosecutor to just say “ooops, my bad, this case was rushed. We’ll drop it. Cool, right?”. It fucks up lives. “Good” legal counsel costs ~$400+/hr. Every email and phone call is money. Charges can be reported to employers or licensing agencies. Jobs lost. Kids taken away. Bad shit happens.

Our current right / far right wing government in Sweden abolished the ministry for the environment within months.
And are currently very proud they reduced gas taxes earlier this summer.
But AI? Lots of love for AI, of course.
They're just a smidge less bad & corrupt than maga.
I shouldn't spread old info, apparently it's fairly easy to qualify these days. Relatively generic conditions like back pain are common reasons. But old access programmes are still in place and a lot of the old wording relating to them ("strictly limited to ensure it gets to the most sick patients") is still there.

I have to stack cookies as they cool because I don't have enough wire racks.
My husband worries that if there was an earthquake they will topple, hit the floor, and therefore be wasted.
Because he is a person of impeccable character and good intentions he keeps walking by to save another cookie from possible calamity.
I don't know what I did to deserve such a partner.
This level of dedication must be rare, right?
The cookies are actually destined to be crumbled up and folded into the homemade ice cream that will be dessert for tomorrow's family lunch event.
I figure it's an event if it is planned in advance. Otherwise it would just be hanging out with family.
Either way there will be good food, fabulous fresh fruit, and sweet treats.
