    Dance of the (Heaven) Veils

A beautiful, clear night with hours of starlight and little moonlight. I decided to be ambitious and try a new target.

This is the eastern part of the Veil Nebula, also known as the Cygnus Loop or Caldwell 33. The structure is part of a supernova remnant. The "229min" in the caption refers to the exposure time.

My pareidolia is seeing the outline of a face with a pointed nose, grinning spookily.

A colour photo of a portion of the night sky with thousands of visible stars. To the right of centre is a lacy filament of gases in a roughly crescent shape. The wisps are mostly red with some green and blue. There's a caption at the bottom: "Seestar S30 Pro - C 33 - Mo/2026-10-17 00:13 - 229min". This refers to the device used to capture the image, the name of the structure, my credits with time of capture, and the length of exposure.
