I refuse to support a genocide enabler company like microsoft as a dev and studio:
- We registered to xbox dev portal and received dev kits (start of 2025) but cancelled all and sent them back
- Moved all our git repos from azure dev to a canadian-owned devops platform
- Deleted our MS accounts
The microsoft account deletion is kinda recent because I had to find a viable version control platform that wasn't supporting ai bullshit lol
That was hard but I'm proud to say we've been using
@worktree for a couple of months and it's great, affordable and hosted IN CANADA!!
even if you can't pay for a version control platform, you can still use an old PC to make a "server" at home.
Working on Spirit Mouse I made a repo on my main PC and we would use TortoiseSVN to commit stuff between our machines. There are so many options, Gitea is my fav for at home vc now
Don't forget that Github is owned by microsoft :)

@LukaTheMouse That's the way to do things. I am sick and tired of people in my life saying things like "I have better things to worry about then not supporting shitty companies" which burns even more when the context is caring about things I am passionate about.
I hate corporations to the point where if I a small business is largely using a corporation for things like online presence it makes me want to support them less. I know you can't self host everything, but at least put in some effort.
@LukaTheMouse Like too many local businesses DON'T EVEN HAVE WEBSITES. They just use Facebook for Marketing and as their "Website" and it just pisses me off. At that point just don't even have any online presence.
@VANTABlack2000 yeah I can understand when someone doesn't have the means to pay for a service or self host one (the technicals are difficult simetimes) but we have so many free hosting options now... Neocities is the one that comes to mind if someone wants to build a website for free!
