@smed I sent with Linphone because it's free and seems not bad, it was easy to set up. However I've also since gone and bought a dect from ebay because it was a fiver which seems like a good way to recycle electronics and have fun. So all avenues covered!

@Thayer thanks, I'll give Linphone a try. I'm planning on bringing a selection of old DECT phones to test in the field. Any working spares I plan to donate to the swap shop.
