My friend has actual vultures in her yard after something drug in a dead animal overnight.
I actually caught myself plotting to acquire some roadkill and acquire some visitors.
Fortunately, i snapped out of that thought pretty quickly.

@bomkatt We have lots of 'em here - both black and turkey vultures! They are *huge*. Kind of majestic. A little intimidating. Very funny when they hop.
@emery we mostly have turkey vultures, but some black as well. They are huge- i don't know if they could land and take off in my patch of yard
@bomkatt Yeah, it seems like they'd need a long runway for takeoff.
@bomkatt 😁 I have both black vultures and turkey vultures who visit some perches by my pond and occasionally do their courtship flappies out back.

Jul 6, 2026, 12:44 AM@bomkatt we have a bunch of them in our neighborhood and it’s just as creepy as you’d expect. Not as weird as the bald eagles in my neighborhood in Petworth though.
@krusynth we mostly have hawks for out local birds of prey. Eagles make an occasional appearance, but it's infrequent enough that it'd be a big deal to see one
