This is compounded because the aquarium's own wayfinding is very bad right now, so people are generally lost, and then they think they ought to know because they were foolish enough to believe a videogame.

This is to say: we don't have dolphins, we don't do a dolphin show, there is no auditorium, there's nothing upstairs but offices and the cafè, there are no whales, the dome does not connect directly to outside (it's just a big tank) and if it did? all the water would come out because it's on the dock over the ocean, like all our tanks.

If the pumps stop pumping everything falls apart very quickly!

Also, all the places we expect the public to be are wheelchair accessible.

@pencilears sometimes they're not allowed to have it right, because the facility doesn't want it to be correct for various bullshit legal reasons :(

@pencilears Also for violent video games, a lot of places don't want to be associated with them, so they have to change any legally trademarkable details, that one's common with churches and cathedrals

@Canageek I watched a walkthrough of the aquarium level in The Last of Us and it's just people farting around looking at the environmental storytelling.

I'm more mad because some of the things look almost correct, like walking through someone else's dream of the aquarium.

@pencilears Yes, but it's the series that's famous for advertising their second game by demonstrating how the shotgun can literally blow a person in two.

So it is entirely possible for PR people to look at that and just decide they don't want to be associated with anything to do with that name

@pencilears in other aquarium news, we visited the Westport Aquarium (v smol) and their water is piped right in from the marina, so sometimes they get new creatures who decided to go on an adventure up the pipes and ended up in their tanks. There is a crab in the touch tank who wound up there that way.
