ETA: looks like a neuromatch problem and not universal thanks for the reports!
When I look at the bot's (@xkcdbot ) alttext from last night it's correct on the indieweb.social page, but as seen form my instance the alttext never updated. Could someone report back from a different instance to see if it did for you?
Normally I see it update pretty much as soon as I finish refreshing the page after I finish the edits. Disappointing if it's having an issue on one I spent a lot of time on.

@SRLevine The "Holes" comic shows proper alt text here on catgirl dot cloud, though from neuromatch it just has the "in progress" note.

@fern So the problem might be with neuromatch not getting the edit propagating correctly. Hmm. I wonder if some glitch updated messed things up?
@admin any idea if neuromatch is having trouble receiving edits in the past couple of days (for alttext in particular, but posts in general) for posts it has already received? it hasn't been a problem before

@cargot_robbie Yeah, it looks fine from other instances apparently (and if I "view from Brie's instance" via the quote it looks good!), but the edit appears to have not propagated to neuromatch for some unknown reason

@cargot_robbie Oh I am not at all the maker! That is the much more computer savvy @fkfd ! He was kind enough to share access to the account though so I could edit in the alttext. Because it's manual it means sometimes it's very late, but we guarantee 100% handcrafted artisanal alttext, no AI, typos free with every purchase.n
