I must say that I think this is my post successful post on the fediverse. The petition isn't started by me but I am so glad many people feel the MTD changes are unfair and have shared the petition or signed it.
I really hope the government change their plan and support small tax payers for free, as they have done for the last 20 or more years!

The UK government should look at Australia for an example on how it can be done. For most individuals, their tax return can be prepared using a free government website. @jwi But those individuals have to pay, mostly, big tax / accounting businesses like Sage now.. so government and big business are happy :D (and the small self employed person gets screwed).

That goes away soon ;(I've used it for 22 years and it worked well and was free AND didn't have to share my data with a commercial 3rd party.
Now with MTD... You can't file directly and have to use a commercial product.

@mrsbeanbag They reduce the income threshold each year so in a year or two, you too will be affected ;(
