A classmate of my son’s (who’s in an all-white class) told him he thought the black players in the French football team should play for “their African teams” instead. Apparently racist memes are popular in his (all white) GAA team also.
12 years living in Dublin without owning a car, and I still saw nearly every corner of Ireland by train. Heuston Station handles the south and west, Connolly covers the north. The train was definitely cheaper than renting a car, and you get to nap instead of navigating roundabouts.

I'm getting hearing aids before my mother and before my father in law, both of whom hear much worse than I do, because current science suggests that untreated hearing loss contributes to cognitive decline and dementia. No thank you!

It's the coast of Iceland in the distance.
We are sitting on the deck of our #cruise ship in brilliant sunshine under a clear blue sky. It's cool but not unpleasant.

this is showing population density as experienced by people - every square is approx 150k people, and the colour of that square tells you the density they live at (blue = dense, red = sparse)
i particularly enjoy how you can see how unusual the US is - the only country that comes close in terms of sprawl is Russia
now the next job is to understand why the mapping has gone up from 2MB to 150MB...
A friend has asked me whether I'd prefer to change at Lyon or Valence TGV for a train down to Barcelona.
I'm in two minds, there's advantages and disadvantages to both. Ultimately, it depends how much you like crowds.

As I travel up to County Clare I am seeing lots of flagstone all over the place with these large serpentiform trace fossils. At the Cliffs of Moher they have even adopted the form and embossed into the concrete render. RTE: Irish artist Joe Caslin has unveiled his latest artwork 'Seen' in Dublin city centre ahead of Pride this weekend.
The 50ft installation features a young trans man and can be seen at 180-187 Townsend Street.
The mural is the result of a six-month collaborative design process between Mr Caslin and 12 LGBTQ+ Ukrainian refugees in Ireland. 🇮🇪🇺🇦🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Meanwhile, Dublin Dyke March was AMAZING.

I had hoped to test my Interrail QR code at the gate in Connolly but it was set to open and didn’t seem to register anything when I tried. I’ve never had a ticket check on this service despite weekly use so I guess I’ll have to wait till my next Interrail journey.
