    My 2027 UNIX wishlist.

    -NetBSD gets ZFS on root, and in the installer.
    -NetBSD gets FreeBSD's jails, including VNET support.

    <or>

    -FreeBSD fully and finally declares a no AI policy.

    As much as I like OpenBSD, neither of those things have ANY chance of making it into their source.

    Also, has anyone forked a slop free tmux, yet?

    @washbear I'm not, but they seem to be the only BSD that hasn't either lost their fucking mind(FreeBSD still has no AI policy) or remained steadfast in their dedication to throwing the baby out with the bathwater(OpenBSD maintains their tight security record half with correct code, and half by scrapping features).

    If I was made of money, I'd be throwing it at NetBSD right now. I know very little about NetBSD culture and development. I've been a Free||Open user since the 1990s.

    I see from your profile you are a NetBSD developer. Based on your reply, am I somehow Incorrect? If I booted a NetBSD installer today, could I install the entire OS, root and all, on ZFS? Could I segment my OS with jails? Because, I'm not gonna lie, jails are fucking awesome and I need ZFS.

    Or, are you saying am I barking up the wrong tree entirely here? That these concepts will never come to NetBSD?

    If the latter is the case, it makes me sad, but I have zero clout with the NetBSD community, so whatever. I'll take my wishlist elsewhere.

    @nuintari

    Here I'm less concerned about a specific filesystem than the ability to lock the device down.

    @RussSharek I actually hold very little useful information on my mobile devices. I care far more about system stability. So my priorities are ZFS first, encryption later.

    But, ZFS has that feature set, so I kind of assume that one comes with the other.
