I've tried an RMA with UBNT. I've explicitly said I realise it's out of warranty but asked them to make an exception (and linked the forum post with a whole bunch of people complaining of the same issue).

Can you determine the actual failure mode?

Perhaps replacing the flash chip and reprogramming might resolve this?

Assuming UBNT doesn't want to play along.

@simonzerafa I probably do have the tools mostly to do that, if perhaps less confidence about the requisite talent/skill.

I know what you mean. Not sure I would attempt it but I would pass it onto someone with the correct skills and experience 🙂👍

@simonzerafa I have done SMD soldering before, including using an iron and also hot air. But it does require an inordinately steady hand, and I think I lack practice honestly.

I began with a support ticket, got response from a sound/helpful rep who then gave me instructions on how submit the RMA in a way where it would be picked up & not end up in the ‘ignore’ queue. A few manual exceptions were necessary to keep it moving.
