@bloor We should ALL have cheeseboards!
*bangs table* CHEESE! BOARD! CHEESE! BOARD!
I've tried an RMA with UBNT. I've explicitly said I realise it's out of warranty but asked them to make an exception (and linked the forum post with a whole bunch of people complaining of the same issue).
Today in "you couldn't make it up"...
Beleaguered telco recently acquired by its prime competitor (and also primary trade creditor) in an 11th hour rescue from administration has sent us an email entitled "The improved Assurance you've been waiting for!"

My dad still reminds me of the time that his FireBrick just stopped working, and he called @aaisp and A&A posted him another FireBrick and it arrived the next day. Config restored and back in service.
He has recommended A&A to numerous friends since.

well that's one good thing then!
Curiously the thing that (seems) to have stopped the TV repeatedly disconnecting wifi was not giving it IPv6 addresses. My working theory is it is doing some check to see if it has connectivity, finding something problematic with IPv6 (incorrectly) then breaking the rest of connectivity briefly and reporting such.
Most annoying.
OK so I am thinking this whole situation might have been the TV's fault - nothing to do with Ubi at all. I am still fucking furious that downgrade (something it offers thru the web i/face) fucked the U6+ totally, though.
When Hegseth promised a televised execution, I had no idea it would be this good.
OK I used one of my spare identical APs... and it is now back. But I am FUCKING SEETHING about my bricked original. That is a fucking disgrace and UBNT ought to be utterly ashamed.
Well this is the first time I've been really annoyed and dismayed by Ubiqiti stuff. I have a couple of U6+ APs live, and my TV for a while now has constantly been disconnecting and reconnecting and generally just being shitty.
This may be relevant maybe. So I tried a rollback to 6.7.41 from 6.7.54. And that fucked the AP totally. So that's brilliant isn't it.
Apparently Rockstar / Sony / MS are starting the GTA6 preload earlier than they originally stated ; apparently as early as the 10th.
I think I can say the IXPs, transit providers, and ISPs of the world thank them for this!
Watch GB News in the morning.
Sorry, I mean to say, watch GB News *in mourning*.
It would really *suck* if you'd spent half a billion dollars trying to buy an election and then you didn't manage to.
Me: *looks at midterm election results*
“Oh!”
Cautiously, very good.
Will we see impeachment proceedings? I think the possibility exists.
And
if the results
are what
we expected?
Take care of each other.
And if the results are worse than we expected? Take care of each other.
And if the results are better than we expected? Take care of each other.
And if
And if.
Take care of each other.
A famous man loses in his court bid to block publication of allegations against him.
In other news, it's still the case that nobody can say who the man actually is, because there might be an appeal lodged.
Justice moves slowly, at times, doesn't it?
