Link at end, but given what everyone has learned with #LibreOffice and #Proton and all the other let downs recently, I keep banging the tech hates all of you drum because it is true. There are no good guys in tech. Not enough for me to say there are good guys. The good ones are deliberately made sure they are never given control, nor respected positions. This goes for the open-source community too. All of tech is this annoyingly brash Libertarian hugbox that doesn’t like you, at all, as a customer. @WeirdWriter nothing wrong with proton.
I saw it all happen, lol. People were switching to proton because of their written commitment to data privacy. Then some shady accounts swirled all over claiming they "will hand over your data to law enforcement", telling people to use some shady site called "tuta" **which was already in the media for being associated with the state**.
Does anyone know an email provider who WONT respond to subpoenas? lmao that is propaganda. They all have to respond.

@WeirdWriter and now its a foregone conclusion "oh welll, woe is me. Proton and tuta are now bad, so I guess there is nothing......... but GOING BACK TO GOOGLE" (which is the story today. Ive seen a dozen people into a big thread all saying that).
Ill stick with proton. Their written commitment is enough, and when I find out they are not following it, then Ill act.

@WeirdWriter ah, I hadnt heard about that. Ive been watching folks roll around claiming "Im leaving proton for tuta" for like a year, and when Ive asked why they've all said "because proton gives your data to the state" and did not mention anything else.
Ill have to follow this. I hadnt heard their CEO was a douche, but this isnt really surprising for a tech company. My primary point of view is data security and privacy. When proton violates that, Ill bail.

@canleaf @WeirdWriter you know something? There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, and we are all doing our best. Im a nearly 40 YEAR career sysadmin and I care deeply about security, privacy as literal fascism rises around us, and right now proton is the only safe solution outside running my own server, which I cant pull off right now.
Right now proton is THE BEST online email provider in terms of security and safety. There is a growing petition to remove the CEO and CTO. Join in.
