i guess one moral of this story is that we’ve needed better, or at least more widely-available, technology communication for so fucking long. cybersecurity has always been bonkers. the morris worm was “self-replicating!” teenagers in new jersey were making botnets out of smart toasters and nearly ddosing google out of commission before chatgpt was a twinkle in sam altman’s soulless eyes
OMG!
It's my second Kickstarter "Project We Love."
Thank you!
Is this you?
1. You really hate Gen AI.
2. You may not be able to risk saying no to your boss when they force you to use it, but would love to help someone who did take that risk (as long as your employer doesn't find out).
3. You can spare about $10 USD for an eBook.
Then you have what it takes to back How I Became The Hacker You Hate.
Please share! 🎉

When you see comments like this, that's a fucking clanker.
Every single "prompt" accelerates climate disaster.
None of the things called "AI" prior to 2022 have anything to do with "Gen AI."
Block and ostracize these technofascist bootlickers.

Fuck you, Nathan.

@davidgerard the entire story of AI in tech is companies that are actually communities being monetized are being mistaken for being companies whose product is tech
Twitch is not a tech company - it's a platform that monetizes parasocial relationships. Replace that with ai serving slop and you lose your entire reason for existing
The last 20 years or so of tech has been companies missing that the innovation of the internet is how it connects people together. AI is that on steroids
I'm gonna name and shame this #infosec LinkedIn freeloader here on Mastodon too.
Writers beware.

Gosh, I sure hope so. I see where you’re going and it sucks.

someone tried to be like "but now the exploit exists and you can pay for it" as some kind of argument against this and we just blocked them rather than try and argue with someone whose head is so far up their ass that it's coming out of their ass again
hi! do you want a web or software project done but don't want to give money to fascists¹? i am available for you!
i am formally starting actually good software!
i am offering web development, software development, and system admin/devops services with a focus on avoiding bad shit in our stack. the software will be good: that is to say it is both high quality, but also ethical
at this time, it's just me doing work on a contract/project basis, but if it's successful i would like to expand: i want to onboard others to transform this into a collective, and also start working on ethical tools as alternatives to some of the bad¹ shit that's taken over the web

Quelle suprise that the lobbyists quoted here want even more regulations and restrictions.
The slippery slope of "just a few more rules"...
(Rather than a fundamental rethink)
I feel like we don't talk enough about how the human workers whose labor on data labeling produces the much-vaunted model improvements *describe their labor conditions as slavery.*
Software that is dependent upon slave labor cannot be Free software. I'm not talking about the Open Source™️ Definition®️, I know what the four freedoms are; but #LLM-containing software cannot be Free software. Clear?

more or less confirms that the PHP exploit on Wednesday was overblown, and contrary to claims it would be exploited in 15 mins, we haven’t even seen one confirmed exploit yet. even proof of concept exploits are incredibly hard to write and deploy.
AI companies were lying. again
Insta people pretending **Israel** (colony) has power over the **USA** (world domination metropolis for about a century now) is insane. "Uhhh we're all going to be speaking Hebrew" WE'RE ALL SPEAKING ENGLISH NOW!!!
LOL 🤣
"People are afraid now" to protest.
Yes. Liberalism is about terrorizing people using the law. It's a judicial and systemic tyranny that, because it's purveyors are so irresponsible, requires destruction to change.
