Trump argues you should vote Republican because the US oil sector is making trillions, as he has so brilliantly closed the Hormuz Strait, forcing the world to buy American oil. Plus he is making money on oil from Greenland.
The facts:
1. Closing the strait has created the largest oil crisis ever recorded in human history with a peak disruption of 14 percent.
2. Greenland is a Sovereign territory of Denmark which has granted zero new drilling licenses to US companies under Trump.

@RaymondPierreL3 @randahl Venezuelan oil reserves are enormous—but it’s heavy, “sour” crude. Very difficult to extract from the reservoir formations, and then also to refine.
Trump & cronies have created a complex, obscure financial structure to capture and hide any financial benefits of Venezuela’s oil.

@randahl whew, arguing that the oil sector is making trillions when people are paying more than 2x what they were a year ago for gasoline to get to their jobs, is a pretty wild way to try to win an election.

Net balance (light vs. heavy crude).
The energy industry does not subscribe to the crude thinking and rhetoric of a Trump.
Mr. Trump realized this quite quickly which explains his intervention in Venezuela and his attempt to annex Canada (51st state).
Along with Mexico, these are the primary sources for the specific types of crude oil used in the U.S. to produce, for instance, the bulk of its diesel fuel.
In terms of technology, U.S. refineries are true specialists in heavy crude.👇

The global oil market functions like one giant bathtub.
Even if not a single drop of oil were to flow into the USA via the Strait of Hormuz, the global scarcity would still dictate the price.
Since US oil producers sell their oil on the open market, they demand the same high price domestically as they do abroad. Consequently, the price of US crude oil rises in lockstep with the global market.🤷🏼‍♂️
