I really hate it’s like this, because the HP Zbook is such a cheap and powerful unit, and in these crazy hardware-price-jump times, getting the most out of second hand hardware should be so important.

I could definitely see some kind of meaning in forcing vendors to offer openess about drivers and OS support. It makes no sense not to support the Linux or BSD eco-system and give people a choice of using a free OS.

I would like the law makers to look at that!

The main issue with my HP Zbook is, that Linux support of the built in firmware for keyboard, sound etc… is not really working well.

When logged into my USB hub with external devices it’s all good, but it can be an issue on the go.

I have started to concider if rather than getting a new control device or audio interface, I should prioritize a second hand laptop with similar specs but less firmware quirks.

This is not the fault of Linux, this is hardware vendors choosing not to support Linux.

So many great tracks on this (& the other discs). :)

Edited it to the correct time, 8pm.

"It will, without question, be different in the coming months. There's no way around that. It remains to be seen whether it will be here at all."

Okay, kloge hoveder:

Nogen bud?

Help me, Obi-Wan Fediobi, you're not my only hope, but help would be nice anyway.

And if you are wondering why these people are improvising in the forest, and why dancers voluntarily would jump into the water in november. The answer is: Kids.

The whole week the dancers had been improvising with kids and this recording was the artistic outcome inspired by the kids. The musicians did the same the year before, so they knew what the dancers had been going through.

Kids and artists should meet like this more often.

Here is a short-doc about the project:

On another note: My headphones just got better for mixing.

The answer is Crossfeed from Kiln and a home made txt file looking like bellow, made from an MSC file provided by the company who created the headphone (Ollo S4X):

Preamp: 0 dB
Filter 1: ON LS Fc 93 Hz Gain 1.5 dB Q 0.5
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 350 Hz Gain -2.0 dB Q 0.7
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 4200 Hz Gain -2.0 dB Q 1.0
Filter 4: ON HS Fc 7100 Hz Gain 1.0 dB Q 0.5

That was fast, unit sold! So long Apollo 8P, you have been a good friend for a long time but now Linux is more fun.

I will especially remember you for the dance project in the woods (recorded in November, it was pretty cold): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-9biRJYzJU

Recorded by my friend Uffe Birk, mixed by yours truly and mastered by Nathan Moody at Obsidian Sound. Those were the days.

I'm also the vocalist on the recording for the curious.

Well, looks like my Apollo 8P is sold tomorrow. To be honest, using Firewire on Linux has not been completely without quirks, so it's a little sad saying goodbye to 8 really great pre-amps, with a firewire interface being my only alternative.

On the other hand I need to be honest to myself, and admit I don't really have anything coming up where I'll need 8 or more pre-amps. I have so much old equipment lying around I never use, and I should either sell it or use it.

Hey #Bitwig friends!

I'm looking into the browser, and could use your advice. Right now I have mostly created manual collections and custom context views, and it's kind of working for me, but I'm curious of how others do it.

I like the custom context view, since it gives me easy access to the things I have selected very fast.

I'm using a controller to open the browser and browse the category and item column using a rotary encoder.

What do you do?

I wholeheartedly believe that every man should watch this video, because i bet none can grasp quite how terribly women get treated, even at work, without being challenged

@thisisjofrank:
“I gave a talk at EMF titled "Men in Tech #YesAllMen", in which I told my experience of being a woman in tech. I was afraid to publish it in case it affected my current or future employment.

With all the current news I would like to add my 2¢. So here is the recording:”

Dammit! I just decided to get the Bitwig Audio interface and the Roto-Control, and then Ollo sends an early bird offer on their new headphone series.

My end of year buy can only be two of the three (and only if I sell my Apollo 8P).

My current Ollo headphones needs a new wire and earpads, so they will be an expence eventually. Might aswell get the new model.

Audio Interface or Roto-Control? Hard choice.

New on the blog: the ambient loop station I'm building finally has a face. I coded the front panel in OpenSCAD and 3D printed it. It's not wired yet, but it feels great to finally hold it in my hands.
