It should be law that satellite dishes are removed from buildings once they're no longer in use. There's no reason for redundant bits of hardware to be left cluttering up the sides and roofs of buildings indefinitely.

# CMA outlines proposals to unlock contactless technology on Apple iPhone
> Apple’s fees and rules are blocking UK fintechs and other businesses from innovating and growing.
> Proposals expected to result in substantially lower access fees, helping make it commercially viable for more businesses to innovate and compete.
> Proposals would require Apple to grant access through the main contactless technology standards used internationally and give businesses more choice.
I'm old enough to remember when the news agencies had a network of overseas reporters including in conflict and war zones who provided on the ground reporting and insight into dangerous events and pinned those events down to something like reality. We're now in a state in the Gulf where there is essentially zero fact-base reporting on something as basic as how many ships are on fire in a waterway that is 30 miles wide.
The Opel GT is a front-engine, rear-drive two-seat sports car manufactured and marketed by Opel in two generations separated by a 34-year hiatus.
The first generation Opel GT (1968[1]–1973) debuted as a styling exercise in 1965 at the Paris and Frankfurt motor shows.[2] The production vehicle used mechanical components from the contemporary Opel Kadett B and two-door hard top bodywork by French contractor Brissonneau & Lotz....

Successful analysts must learn to distinguish between two thoughts:
“This investigation is difficult.”
“This investigation is going nowhere.”
The first describes the work. The second is a judgment about its prospects.
Research suggests that when we interpret difficulty as a sign of importance, we’re more likely to persist. When we interpret it as a sign of impossibility, we’re more likely to disengage.
A difficult investigation isn’t necessarily a dead end. Sometimes the difficulty is a signal that the problem deserves more attention, not less. How you interpret difficulty shapes how you invest our time and effort.
@lectronz Companies like Amazon would be packaging suppliers as well as using packaging, so no brainer for them.
But for Lectronz, they would not be involved, their sellers would use certified packaging, simple.
No need even for "small sellers" stuff, they would just buy certified packaging as well.

The problem of chokepoint politics is that it *really* is a zero-sum view of the global political economy.... and one that the Chinese Govt. has seen work for the US & worked to develop themselves.
Here's @henryfarrell joining the dots & setting out how this plays out.
The control of/over particular technologies is a real & present danger to the (even now, fractured) stability of the global system and represents a classic security dilemma.

BeyondTrust Remote Support, now shipping with Beyond Trust™ authentication
CVE-2026-102764, CVSS 9.3. The appliance simply did not check where messages came from. Unauth file ops, zero clicks, zero fucks given.
Exploited since August. Patched in October. That's a zero-day with a seven week head start.
Second critical of 2026 after February's RCE-to-ransomware speedrun. It's not PAM, it's a PAMphlet on how not to do auth.
The product name was a warning label this whole time.

We have sorted through another load of rubbish and scrap in the basement.
I do wonder how many skips it could be to just get rid of everything else.
